All our lesson packages include step by step, easy to follow instructions, with pictorial diagram, explanation and troubleshooting notes.
An electromagnet is a type of magnet in which a magnetic field is produced by an electric current. The magnetic field can disappear when the current is turned off. An electromagnet is usually made of a coil of wire that is wound around an iron core and will become magnetised when a current is supplied. The amount of magnetic field generated can be varied by varying the amount of current supplied.
This experiment allows students to see the effect of a device becoming magnetised when an electric current is applied. A fun activity such as a fishing competition can also be introduced to engage the students.
