As a rule of thumb, you must always update the Clover boot loader before you attempt an update of your MacOS.

Also, if you have an Nvidia web driver installed, you may want to force nv_disable=1 on your next boot to allow the update to complete and the gui to display.

Force verbose boot if you have any problems with the argument : -v

I did not update the Clover boot loader before an update and MacOS refuse to boot and hangs indefinitely.  I had to recover from my latest TimeMachine backup to try again.

It is wise to have the latest TimeMachine backup just in case the update failed.
